Do you take insurance and how does that work?

Currently, CIJTogether does not take insurance as a direct form of payment. However, it is possible for your sessions to be covered by your insurance, partly or in full, under your “out of network” benefits. If you would like to use your insurance for your therapy sessions, CIJTogether can provide you with a monthly Superbill, (Statement for Reimbursement) for you to submit directly to your insurance company for partial or full reimbursement. To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers. Here are some helpful questions you can ask them:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover a year?
  • What is my deductible and how much has been paid towards my deductible  up to this point?
  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider per session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician (preauthorization)?

Please note that insurance companies may place a limit on number of sessions allocated for you. Although at times it could be substantial, not everyone heals in a set number of sessions. Some people may need longer time to heal than others. Also, when working with insurance panels, they require a mental health diagnosis, which in some cases may not be fitting. Please be mindful of some restraints and restrictions which may play a role and impact the therapeutic process.

What is the cancellation policy?

The client is responsible for payment of the agreed upon fee for any missed session(s) and/or agreed upon fee for any session(s) for which the client failed to give at least 24-hour notice of cancellation.
